Wonderful news! I took Kate to a dermatologist in Rochester to have her birthmark checked out officially. A number of doctors & nurse practitioners have looked at it since she was born, but our regular dr. referred us to the dermatologist to have a specialist look at it. The consensus is that it will begin to gradually fade in about 4 months, and be totally gone by the time Kate's 5 or 6 years old. There is a chance for some scarring to be left behind, but it shouldn't be too much. What a relief it is...it has just been growing and growing since she was born, and we were concerned with how large it was getting. It could apparently grow a bit bigger, but should be at its largest within a month or two. Now we can focus on other issues...like making naptime more pleasant... :) Something about naptime just isn't meshing well lately, but at least she's sleeping pretty well at night when it's most important!
