We've been a bit remiss about updating this blog (obviously - last post was in August!) - with good excuse though. With my dad being in the hospital with a stroke, and then being back to work teaching in September, the blog was quite forgotten. So here we are in March, just over a year from when Kate first arrived. Rather than try to update everything that has occurred up to this point, I'll start from this month. Kate has turned 1 year old and is having a lovely time being an almost-official toddler. She's really working on the walking, and it thoroughly comfortable walking at your side as long as she can hang on to your hand or pant leg. She is a very cautious little girl, so we're not expecting her to "let go" and walk on her own any day now. When we do let go of her little hands, she stands for a couple seconds, then immediately drops her hands down to help her sit. We're not in a hurry to have a walker...she's mobile enough with crawling!
For her first birthday celebration, we combined a party for her and her cousin, William, who will be 2 years old on March 28. We all had a lovely time, and I've attached some pictures from that day. Since she's not really a sweets kinda girl, the cupcake was more of a play thing for Kate, but she did enjoy tearing it up with her fork! I don't believe we got a single bite in her mouth, but that's okay. If she comes after her parents are all, she'll eventually develop that sweet tooth, I've no doubt. And as far as a present-opener, we were all impressed. Kate really enjoyed ripping that paper, and insisted on hugging everything that came out of the packages...whether it was hug-able or not :)
Matt & I will be updating as time allows, and posting pictures so you can enjoy watching Kate as she grows up :)
